Friendly 11 Nov
Hi boys and girls,
Fantastic job just now. I am proud of all of you even though we drew with the opponent. We did not train for a month plus and most of you still remember all the things you have learnt from me.
It took some time for us to get used to how we used to play. By the 2nd period, most of you woke up and play to your usual standards. I am glad that this time round, all of you are much confident compared to during the competition the other time.
The coaches in the other team were impressed on how some of you play especially Danny who received high praise from them.
For me, its not about winning today. It is to show what all of you have learnt from me and see all the improvements you have made. Those who made mistakes, it is alright to make mistake now. We will learn from our mistakes and be even better next time and don't do it next time.
Just remember for me I don't like people who scold their own teammates and we don't blame anyone of anything. Because we are a team and even if goalkeeper makes mistakes, it is the entire team fault because the ball should have been cleared by our forwards and defenders, and should not be on our half.
So overall well done today. For those who didnt get selected to play in the friendly, don't worry just work harder and I will organise more friendlies. I don't think there is holidays trainings. So those who have your sticks please train at home or with your teammates when you are free.
Lastly, whoever interested in sticks, feel free to tell me here if you are 100% getting it and your parents allowed you to get it.
Check this blog every now and then. I will try to post videos or tips when im free.

Friendly
Hi boys and girls,
Sorry that I did not post anything for the past few months. I was busy with work and preparing for my tournament.
As you know there is a friendly next week against keming pri school. For those who are selected, well done because you all have trained hard and thats why you earn the spot to play against keming primary. However for those who was not selected to play, dont worry because its not over yet. I will try to organise more friendlies to let you gain more competitive experience to prepare us for next years tournament.
I have high hopes for all of you to do well in the friendlies and tournaments. So for those who have sticks, please train hard at home, dont forget all the things we have learn such as
Dribbling ( how to dribble on strong and weak sides, when to use 2 hands and when to use 1 hands)
Passing (how to do drag pass and wrist pass, to make passing accurate, you must do the follow through movement. Also close blade when passing ground ball.)
Shooting ( same as passing, just that need to apply more pressure on ground and open blade and point to the goal post. Also remember how to use drag shot when back facing the goalpost)
Defending (use one hand to do fencing and follow ball movement. Tackle the ball when possible. Use 2 hands when confident to get the ball. To defend in the correct positions, sticks follow the ball and body between goalpost amd the ball.)
Shielding ( how to do shielding with the ball, put which legs out when dribbling past opponent and shield the ball.)
Positioning ( remember where to move and stand when attacking and defending)
Any questions can ask me during trainings.
See you next monday!

Trainings (24th July 2013)
Hi all,
Great training session just now. Alot of improvement in terms of passing and receiving the ball. Just remember the correct ways to do drag passes and receive the ball instead of stopping the ball. Any questions can always ask me during trainings. Don't be shy.
Have a good rest! See you all next week!

Trainings (10 July 2013)
Hello boys and girls,
Great job just now for the trainings. Dribblings and passings starting to get better which is very good. Just remember the running to space (pop out) monkey drill. Running to open space is very important in a floorball game. Next week I will go through the positionings again. For those people who had already gotten your own floorball sticks, do work on your dribblings at home. Normal left right dribble, wide left right dribble, one hand then two hand dribble and hockey dribble. Next week I will do some passing, shooting and positionings drills because you all are weak in this 3 areas.
Have a good rest and I will see you next week.

Floorball Video
Hi boys and girls,
Here's another video to entertain you for this week.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTVmCR0EJQg
For the past few videos that I have posted, some of you might be wondering how come they are playing with 5 outfield players instead of 4.
The actual floorball game consists of 5 outfield players and 1 goalkeeper in the court. You are playing with 4 outfield players is because of the format set by the Singapore Floorball Association for youth players (primary and secondary schools)

For Shaft flex (stiffness of the shaft)
Body Weight to shaft flex

50 kg to 70 kg - 27-29mm flex
70 kg to 90 kg - 24-26mm flex
>=91kg - 23mm flex
Most of you all are 30kg-50kg so its better for you all to get a stick with over 30mm. Anything not sure can check with me again.

Training
Hi boys and girls,
Good training sessions just now. Alot of improvement in shooting and passing even though after the 3 weeks break from floorball.
For those who learn shooting just now and even those who haven get the chance to learn shooting yet, just remember this few points.
For wrist shots:
Key points
1. Shoulder point to goalpost.
2. Ball between both legs, preferably nearer to front leg.
3. Hit using middle part of the blade.
4. Bend knees abit and lean forward abit.
Step 1: Close blade
Step 2: Slide across floor (More space to slide from the ball will increase power)
Step 3: When sliding slowly change to open blade
Step 4: Ending position point to where you want the ball to go at the goalpost.
For drag shot:
Key points
1. Shoulder point to goalpost
2. Ball behind both legs
3. Use middle part of blade
4. Bend knees abit and lean forward abit.
Step 1: Close blade
Step 2: Slide across the floor with the ball.
Step 3: Slide till the point of release ( which is middle part of the space between both legs)
Step 4: When sliding slowly change to open blade.
Step 5: Ending position point to where you want the ball to go at the goalpost.
If you all have any questions on the sticks or any questions about floorball. Feel free to post comment as Anonymous but do state your name and from primary what (primary 3, 4, 5 or 6) , so that I know who you are. If you got questions about floorball sticks, comment on the floorball sticks post. If you have questions on the floorball videos, post it on the floorball videos post.
Other than that, enjoy your june holidays, and i will see you all in term 3.

For those who didn't get to try the sticks, don't worry I will bring the sticks down again on Wednesday training.
Please share the website with those floorballers that didn't turn up for training today thanks.
There are some tips and rough guide when buying a floorball stick outside. If you are buying from me, you don't have to worry about all these. I will help u with these.

I will list down the price of the floorball sticks with the pictures. It is not compulsory to get your own floorball sticks. For those who are interested in getting the sticks, please show it to your parents first. And if your parents want to see the sticks first before buying, you can ask them to wait for me after Wednesday training.
For Stick length
Body height to shaft length
1.30m-1.65m height => 85-92cm shaft length
1.65m-1.75m height => 92-97cm shaft length
It simply means that if you are 1.30m-1.65m tall, you are recommended to get a stick that is 87-91cm length and etc. The length of the stick can be found on the stick.
For Shaft flex (stiffness of the shaft)
Body Weight to shaft flex
30 kg to 50 kg - 30-35mm flex
50 kg to 70 kg - 27-29mm flex
70 kg to 90 kg - 24-26mm flex
>= 91kg - 23mm flex
Most of you all are 30kg-50kg so its better for you all to get a stick with over 30mm. Anything not sure can check with me again.
